Dressing for the evening, the Roman way
An evening gown is the most demanding thing a wardrobe asks for: it has to hold a room, photograph under hard light and still let you sit, dance and breathe. The Hugo Caesar Tassi approach is the classical one — a long vertical line, a defined waist and a single point of drama — so the dress carries the occasion rather than competing with it.
These are floor-length and column silhouettes in our heaviest, most fluid fabrics: bias-cut satin that catches light as you move, knife-pleated chiffon for movement, and draped crepe that skims rather than clings. The palette runs deep — Porpora wine, Basalt black, Cobalto navy — the tones that read as 'evening' across cultures and centuries.
How an evening gown should fit
Floor-length styles are cut for a low or block heel; we publish each model's height so you can judge the break of the hem on your own frame. Bias and column cuts are close through the body — size up for a fuller bust and have the hem adjusted rather than sizing down. Every gown is fully lined and finished with a concealed zip.
