Those two front slits do exactly what the description promises — the modal flows with every step, and walking into the gala I felt the skirt part and settle like liquid. Genuinely mesmerising fabric.
The column, redrawn in liquid jersey
Rome carved its temples as fluted columns — vertical, exact, eternal. The Vipsania reads that line in soft modal jersey, a gown that falls straight and pure until two slits let it breathe.
Designed by Hugo Caesar Tassi for the Livia collection, the Vipsania takes the classical column and lets it move. A high, gathered waist cinches a clean sleeveless bodice; below it the skirt unfurls into a long, fluid column with two softly draped thigh-high front slits that part as you walk and close again to a quiet, modest line when you stand.
Cut from a weighty modal-blend jersey, it has the matte-satin sheen of an evening gown without the stiffness — fabric that pours over the body and pools at the floor. It arrives in four imperial tones: near-black Basalt, bronze-patina Verde Antico, deep-wine Cornelia and Tyrian Porpora — colors drawn from fresco and porphyry, built to be kept rather than retired with the season.
