The Viminia is a mini small leather evening clutch from the Iulia collection — a dress conceived in Rome for evening, dinners and the after-dark hours. The small leather evening clutch is cut from fluid satin with a quiet, candle-lit sheen, fully lined so it reads opaque in daylight and flash alike.
Like every Hugo Caesar Tassi piece, the Viminia is finished by hand: a concealed closure, real linings, and seams sewn to last. It is offered in 3 colors from the imperial palette — Basalt, Cuoio, Travertine — and built to be worn for years, not a single season.

Hugo Caesar Tassi cut Viminia for the Iulia collection — the slim leather clutch that carries everything an evening asks for and nothing it does not.
The shape is deliberately quiet: a clean horizontal rectangle in supple full-grain cowhide, soft enough to mould to the hand yet holding its line across the room. A single zip runs the length of the top edge, drawn by a polished silver pull, opening to a smooth polyester-cotton lining and a hidden inner pocket.
A slender leather wrist strap loops through a silver hook so the clutch sits easily over the wrist through a long dinner, then detaches for the cleanest possible hand-held line. No clasp to fuss with, no hardware to announce itself.
Full-grain cowhide, chosen for the way it ages, offered in three tones that read across the day and into the night.
We finish the hide with a soft, lightly polished surface that catches golden light without glare and softens further with wear. The grain is left natural so each piece keeps its own quiet character.
Basalt is the deep-black hero, the one that disappears against an evening dress. Cuoio brings a warm coffee-brown depth for colour worn close to the body, while Travertine answers in a soft pale stone for lighter days — three distinct tones, one unmistakable shape.
What she said after wearing it
Holds my phone, a lipstick, a slim card case and the flat house key without a single bulge. I never realised how much a clutch this neat could actually swallow until I packed it for the opera.
The little polished zip pull is the detail that sells it — cool to the touch, weighty, and it glides shut with a quiet zzzip rather than catching. Such a small thing done properly.
The Travertine leather is gorgeous and the wrist strap is genuinely useful, so this is a happy buy. If I'm being purely picky about my own taste, I'd have loved the top edge cut a touch lower and more open at the zip — but that's me, not the clutch, and I'll be carrying it all season regardless.
Outdoors the Cuoio reads like warm honey leather, almost caramel where the sun hits it, then deepens to a richer tan under the restaurant lamps. A living colour, not a flat brown.
This bit is entirely on me — the listing calls it small and I somehow pictured something roomier, so when it arrived I realised I'd misjudged what I needed and ordered the wrong thing for my purpose, not the wrong product. The Cuoio leather and that neat silver zip are exactly as described and genuinely beautiful; I just should have read the dimensions properly before clicking buy.
No complaint at all about the clutch itself — the Basalt full-grain leather is supple and the construction is lovely. My frustration was purely the wait: I ordered right in the middle of the festive rush and the whole courier system was clearly buckling under the volume, so it crawled along for what felt like an age before it landed. The bag was worth waiting for; the delivery simply tested my patience.
Let me say first that the Travertine clutch is exquisite — the leather, the zip, all of it. My low mark is purely about a mess of my own making: I was changing flats right in the middle of the order and had to chase down the parcel and redirect it to the new place, which turned into a real saga of missed handoffs and phone calls. None of that is the atelier's doing, and once it finally reached the right door I was thrilled with what was inside.
Clipped the slim strap round my wrist for the whole reception so my hands were free for a glass and a plate. Unclip it and it's a tidy zip pouch again. Brilliant little dual life.
Expected a hard shell and got this gorgeously pliable full-grain hide instead — it has a bit of give, moulds slightly to whatever's inside, yet keeps a clean slim line. The leather smell when I opened it was heaven.
Took it to a winter ball in Basalt and it disappeared against everything beautifully. Slim enough to tuck under the arm during dinner, smart enough to set on the table.
I'd worried the pale Travertine would look chalky, but it's a soft greige stone shade that flatters in candlelight and goes with the warm side of my wardrobe. Photographs like a dream against a dark dress too.
No logos, no fuss, just one honest zip line and good leather. That restraint is precisely why I bought it.
Ran my thumb along every edge looking for a flaw and found none — the paint on the rim is even, the stitching tiny and dead straight, and the zip tape is tucked in cleanly at both corners. Properly made.
Bought the Basalt one for my mother's seventieth and she actually gasped. She's fussy about leather goods and turned it over twice checking the inside before declaring it a keeper. High praise from her.
Slid it down the side of my cabin case and it arrived without so much as a crease, ready to go straight from airport to evening do. The slim profile earns its place in a packed bag.
I've handled designer evening bags at four times this and the hide here honestly holds its own. For three hundred and thirty I feel I've slightly got away with something.
Peeked inside expecting cheap shiny fabric and instead the interior is smooth, snug and properly finished, with the zip running cleanly end to end. Even has a hint of room for a folded note.
Loved the Basalt so much at a wedding that I quietly ordered Cuoio a fortnight later for the warmer months. No regrets — two clutches now cover every dress I own.
Small without being fiddly. It sits flat under the arm, doesn't gape, and the length is just right to slip a hand inside without wrestling. Whoever drew this up understood the brief.
Arrived nestled in a slim grey sleeve inside a firm card box, no excess, no plastic. Lifted it out, clipped on the strap, and walked out the door to drinks an hour later.
What makes it is that single uninterrupted top-zip — no flap, no clasp, nothing to fumble in a dark cab. One pull and it's open, one pull and it's shut. Pure ease.
Three events this season and it's been the only bag I've carried to each. Once you find an evening clutch this dependable you stop bothering with the rest.
Empty it's feather-light, so even loaded it never drags at the wrist through a long dinner. After years of heavy chain bags this is a revelation.
Two women at a gala asked to see it up close and were stunned at the price when I told them. The Cuoio especially seems to glow under warm lighting.

It's fully lined and completely opaque — no slip required. Only the lightest details are very slightly sheer, by design.
True to size through the waist and skirt. The bodice is tailored, so size up if you're fuller in the bust. See the size guide for exact measurements.
Very much so — it was designed for evening, dinners and the after-dark hours. Basalt and the deeper tones read beautifully after dark; the lighter colors suit daytime.
