That godet swing
It's the hidden panel in the skirt that won me over — when I move, the hem sweeps out in a way a plain midi never does, then settles back into a quiet column. Spun in front of the mirror like a teenager.

A faux-wrap day-to-occasion dress in fluid matte crepe, with a soft surplice V-neck, long fitted sleeves, a nipped waist and a dramatic large-swing skirt lifted by a contrast godet panel.

The Sentia is a midi faux-wrap soft-v large-swing midi dress from the Livia collection — a dress conceived in Rome for weddings, the opera and occasions that ask for more. The faux-wrap soft-v large-swing midi is cut from structured crepe that holds a clean line, fully lined so it reads opaque in daylight and flash alike.
Like every Hugo Caesar Tassi piece, the Sentia is finished by hand: a concealed closure, real linings, and seams sewn to last. It is offered in 2 colors from the imperial palette — Basalt, Travertine — and built to be worn for years, not a single season.

Sentia™Select color · Select sizeHugo Caesar Tassi designed Sentia for the Livia collection — a faux-wrap dress that crosses softly at the neck and opens into a sweeping skirt.
A soft surplice V-neck wraps across the fitted bodice, long sleeves keep the line clean, and a nipped waist seam draws the figure in before the skirt releases into a full, large-swing A-line. Set into the centre-front is a tall contrast godet panel that flares open as she moves — the detail that gives the dress its quiet drama.
We cut it in deep Basalt black lifted by a warm Travertine-tan godet — a two-tone play that reads composed rather than loud. It asks for nothing more than fine gold jewellery and a heel.
A fluid matte crepe chosen for its weight and swing, with a low sheen that keeps the colour deep in golden light.
The crepe has a supple, drapey hand that holds the bodice clean and lets the skirt fall in full, easy folds. The contrast godet is cut on the same cloth so the panel swings true with the rest of the skirt; a discreet back zip keeps the line uninterrupted.
It is made to be worn from a long lunch into the gold of late afternoon — a flattering, flowing dress that flatters the waist and gives the skirt room to move.
What she said after wearing it
It's the hidden panel in the skirt that won me over — when I move, the hem sweeps out in a way a plain midi never does, then settles back into a quiet column. Spun in front of the mirror like a teenager.
Out on the balcony in full sun the Basalt reads as a deep, even charcoal-black with no cheap shine to it. Matte and grown-up. The crepe just drinks the light rather than bouncing it back.
Bought for my goddaughter's christening and it struck exactly the right note — covered enough for a church, pretty enough for the lunch after. The wrap front sits modestly without a single safety pin needed.
The cut is faultless — that surplice V, the fitted sleeves, the skirt with its godet swing all come together beautifully, and the Travertine I chose is lovely. My only small daydream is that I'd happily have agonised over a third colour if there'd been one; a soft green or a wine would have been hard to resist alongside the Basalt and the stone. Purely my own greed talking — the dress itself is everything I hoped.
The dress is genuinely lovely — the matte crepe and that swinging godet hem are exactly what I wanted for an autumn occasion. The hiccup was entirely on the doorstep: I was out when the courier called, missed the second attempt too, and ended up booking a redelivery for later in the week. That back-and-forth cost it a couple of stars in my mind, not the Sentia, which I adore now it's finally hanging in my wardrobe.
Matte, dense, with a lovely fluid weight — it skims rather than clings and the surplice neckline stays put when I lean across a table. No gaping, no fussing.
Long and fitted to the wrist without cutting in. So many dresses get the sleeve wrong; these taper neatly and end just where they should.
Let me start with the good: the Basalt is a deep proper black, the crepe drapes beautifully and the wrap front is so flattering. What soured things was the tracking flipping to delivered while nothing had actually reached my door. It took a few days and a sorted-out replacement before the dress was finally in my hands. The Sentia is a keeper; the getting-it-here was the problem.
The nipped waist genuinely shapes you — I've a thicker midsection and the faux-wrap plus that gathered waist gave me a figure I didn't think I had. Walked taller all evening.
Flats and a tote for the office, then heels and earrings for drinks after — same dress, two completely different lives. The matte crepe never looks like I'm trying too hard in either.
Full honesty — this is a self-inflicted wound. The Sentia is beautiful, the godet swing and that fitted-sleeve wrap are everything the photos promised. I just clicked standard shipping to save a little, then realised days later I needed it for an event that had crept up on me, and of course it couldn't arrive in time. My miscalculation, not the atelier's. The dress, when it did come, was worth the wait.
The Travertine is a soft warm stone, almost greige, and against a tan it's gorgeous. Photographs as this calm neutral that flatters far more than plain beige would.
I've spent three times this on dresses that hung worse. The construction here — the way the godet is set in, the clean wrap — punches well above two hundred and forty-five dollars.
Every photo from the party has that skirt caught mid-swing, the godet flaring out. It moves so beautifully that even a candid snap looks deliberate.
Was nervous a big-swing skirt might fly up, but the midi length and the weight of the crepe keep it decent even when it really does kick out. Danced freely all night.
Six hours at a long lunch, half of them sitting, and it never dug in or rode up. The waist holds without pinching and the skirt gives you room to actually breathe and eat.
My main worry with any faux-wrap V is the neckline drifting open. This one is sewn closed at exactly the right depth — flattering, never a peep of anything underneath.
The bodice is properly finished inside, seams neat, nothing scratchy against the skin. You can tell someone cared about the bits no one sees.
Loved the Basalt enough that the Travertine followed a fortnight later. Rare for me to double up, but this cut just works on my shape and I wanted it in both.
Hits me mid-calf, which on a shorter frame can drown you, but the swing of the skirt keeps it light and the leg looks longer, not stumpier. Lovely with a low heel.
Packed it for a weekend wedding tucked into a corner of my case. Out it came barely marked, a quick steam in the bathroom and it dropped straight. Crepe earns its keep when you travel.
Needed something elegant that wasn't matronly for my daughter's wedding and this was it. Dressed up with pearls it looked considered and graceful, and I could move on the dance floor.
Sent it to my sister for her fortieth in the stone shade. She rang the moment she'd tried it on, thrilled — the swing skirt and the way it nipped her waist had her sold immediately.
No fake sheen, no clingy synthetic feel. Just a clean, fluid matte crepe that looks calm and considered. The kind of dress you reach for when you can't decide what to wear.

It's fully lined and completely opaque — no slip required. Only the lightest details are very slightly sheer, by design.
True to size through the waist and skirt. The bodice is tailored, so size up if you're fuller in the bust. See the size guide for exact measurements.
Very much so — it was designed for weddings, the opera and occasions that ask for more. Basalt and the deeper tones read beautifully after dark; the lighter colors suit daytime.
