Those gold buttons
The row of gold buttons travelling all the way down to the hem is what sold me, and in person they sit just right against the blue knit, never gaudy. The single-breasted line is so clean.
The Knit, Made Roman

A deep V opens onto a single-breasted run of small gold buttons that travels the whole length of the dress, from the neckline to the ruffled hem. The bodice is fitted in fine vertical rib through a high waist, where a seam releases the skirt into close knife-pleating that opens, at the last, into a soft flounce. Four little flap pockets — two at the bust, two at the waist — keep the line crisp and considered.
It is a knit that behaves like tailoring: it skims and holds rather than clings, and the 3/4 sleeve, cuffed with a small ruffle, keeps it easy. A dress for daylight that never reads as casual.

A muted, dusty Cobalto blue, chosen to sit against warm travertine and golden light.
